Definition of Rescue....

Rescue as a Verb, to save from a dangerous or distressing situation. Rescue as a Noun, is an act of saving or being saved from danger. Now in today’s society we use this term so loosely when it comes to helping animals. Now I know that there are dogs and cats out there in the USA that are being held in deplorable situations by some hideous people. As rescues come and go here in the states mostly we end up helping dogs that are being given up by their owners and pulling them from shelters where owners have dumped them or they have been picked up as strays. Mostly we do not do real rescue we re-home animals. The distressing situation is from the owner who want the animal gone and make themselves feel good about it. I take in many of these dogs to help re-home them, I do not feel like I do real rescue I just re-home dogs. I feel like I make a lot of folks feel good about what they have decided to do. I hold no judgments about these things I just help find homes for these dogs.  Don’t get me wrong they all need help.  What I lose sleep over is the fact that in this world there are animals that really need to be rescued. I have had my eyes opened and now can no long look the other way. It is the same as people who have always gotten their pets in a pet store and find out how the pets get to the store to be sold. They do not go back to the pet store to buy another pet. When our eyes are opened and we learn the truth we cannot look the other way. As my eyes get opened to the horrid truth of animals around the world how can I just look the other way and pretend that it does not exist. We see the wild animals of Africa being slaughtered for their skin and other body parts. We  see them being exploited and sold to USA and other industrial countries where the rich uncaring people who seek them are. We watch these ugly happening on TV and say what can I do. Then do nothing. I am as guilty of this as any one. But now I cannot I must try to help. I cannot save an  Elephant in Africa but I can save a dog in Peru. I cannot save the world. But I can re-home dogs in United States. I cannot go to sleep every night knowing I did nothing to help rescue, (to save from a dangerous or distressing situation) dogs that I know how to help. I do not know how to save wild animals from Africa but I do know how to save the Cultural, historical hairless dogs of Peru. One at a time seem almost insignificant but I am one person and if we all do one thing we can make a difference. We take our one vote and go to the polls every four years  to make a difference. This is how things are done on a large scale one at a time. Yes this country has plenty of homeless helpless dogs and cats we also have hundreds and hundreds of rescue/shelters and a government that makes laws that help us help them. When we look at the situations of poor countries where the people can hardly help themselves and governments that have not made laws to help the animals of their countries, do we just say it’s not our problems. We did not always save and rescue the helpless homeless pets of this country. We left them outside to fend for themselves we killed them and treated them as they were a reread new paper, unwanted and tossed out. As animal lovers across this country saw the truth and realized how disgusting and deplorable this was. They started to change by educating and working independently, then together to open shelters and start rescues. To get politicians and corporations educated and involved. We did not just wake up and have this fall in our laps many folks over the years made our country aware. The media helped bring the awareness to the forefront and take the hideousness out of darkness and put it in the light for all to see.   I was born in a world where women of the USA could not buy a home or get equal pay for the same job that a man done. I was forced to have sex to keep a job. I am proud to say I burned my bra in front of the capital. I leave my a legacy to the young women of today who will never know that time. I did not do this alone a whole generation of women came together and made our voices heard. I will not look the other way because I live in a country that has already has gone through what many countries have still to do. I can not say its not my problem because we have homeless dogs in the United States, we also have shelters and rescues that are out there picking up the slack and the thousands of dogs and cats that don't get a second chance we will euthanize to be humane. Yes it is something I hope will not be needed in my life time but I know it will. But to see the dogs that are just left behind because the people have no home and the shelters they have built to live in get tore down and they are sent away the animal are left behind to fend for themselves and exposed to the elements and starvation.

The few people who care and try are not enough, they do what they can but its never is enough. I know there are many who do not believe as I do. It's not for me to change the world but to pray my voice gets heard for the animals of the counties that have not developed a way to save there animals and pets. I'm not asking for money I asking that you spread the word educate get involved.  One dog, one animal, one child it all starts small.

I do not speak Spanish but use the on line translators to help aid me in the discovery of the
plight of these dogs that I know how to help but can not get them to the USA to help. As I write this I am following the rescue of many dogs that are left out in the cold, rubble and barren area where the people were forced to leave and the dogs got left behind. The small group of people lead by a woman who loves these dogs and tries to help, had to ask for permission to help get to the dogs. She took a 5 hour taxi ride to help feed and rescue the dogs The dogs being afraid had to be tranquillized so they could get the adults. using chicken   laced with tranquillizers was her only means but as some fell asleep she then had to leave because the area became unsafe when the drug addicts and thieves arrived. She will go again this time she hopes to have a tranquillizer dart gun so she can get them quicker. She left food for them but it is too dangerous to go with out police escort. The food will not last and she wants to get more puppies the next time she goes. So we just look the other way when people put their lives on the line to help dogs.

I ask all that read this to spread the word. If I could get to the companies that could help bring some of these dogs here I can help find homes for them. Not everyone wants fuzzy hairy dogs. Many of us like the hairless breeds and would adopt them if they were here. Many folks there do not believe that the dogs are any good when they are adults but if we can show them how they can be trained and be a wonderful companion we are educating the people of another country to help themselves help the dogs. Put value on the unwanted dogs of this country.

Sexy is what Sexy does

Having five, plus teenage girls in my care I feel very responsible for there everything. Morals and respect are on the top of my list with independence a close second; wrapped up with a good does of my sarcasm.  So monitoring the Internet can be exhausting with the social media problem of today and only growing worse. So I am always telling them that pictures of ones self does not have to always be sexy there are so many things that can be left out of a picture and still be attractive. Chest out, head lowered to one side and that pouting look that young girls think is so attractive just are not necessary. I am not sure I am getting my message across very well but I put my foot down on showing boobs, butts and belly's on face book.   Now I see after the fact pictures so they do slide one by me on occasion. But to push that envelope very hard has huge consequences that none are willing to pay.  My brother was in town a week ago trying to finish up the family history and the girls where just enthralled by the pictures we have collect. As they came across my teen years the intense fascination of my Sexy picture got well scrutinized. I won't let them dye there hair mostly because they will not be careful and ruin things. So when they saw my trial hair color days I got a beating.
My mini skirt days were scandalous back then but those days are gone and there is nothing too extreme or taboo in today's society. Hell it was years before you saw Ricky and Lucy sleeping in the same bed as a married couple. I don't want my prudish upbringing to make my girls afraid of there own sexuality, I just don't want it on Face book, or running around the mall.

Can you help????

I wish I could say I am book smart or could be a good business person, I can not. These are the things I have always wished I could do. I spent most of my life looking for my propose of existence. I am not an angel or a saint. I am just me and I have some deep feeling about things in life, they differ from some but may be the same as others. I have often been let down by human kind but still believe in good people. I care deeply about the living breathing things that humans find disposable.  These things have lead me to be where I am in my life. Kids and animals are my passions. I am very taken by the hairless breeds of animal. So it made sense to me to start a rescue to help hairless dogs. I put " & small breed " into the rescue name to cover other dogs that we might be able to help.
I try not to use my blog to do anything other than educate or entertain my readers. But I found myself in a place to reach as many people as I can. I am hoping that my blog reaches many more readers than just my personal friends or dog lovers. I hope to be able to reach many different groups of people who might be in a position to help with guidance in the right directions or donating their frequent flier miles. My goal is to help the Peruvian Inca Orchid dogs of Peru. This is a hairless ancient breed that dates back before the Europeans found the Americas. They are a breed that has not change since its beginnings. The problem is there are not enough people, education, laws, or money to help them. There are many that are street dogs unwanted and discarded as they grow because they come in three sizes many have no space or money to take care of the larger size dogs. Most folks are trying to survive themselves and can not help the dogs. They must care for themselves and there families. The dogs suffer from lack of help, the help that is almost impossible for them to get. Here we euthanize the unwanted dogs that can not be helped. I know this is a horrifying thing to think or talk about but it is in fact better to euthanize than to leave a dog to fend for itself to die a horrid death of hunger, disease, abuse or from exposure to the elements. A dog that is intact with primitive instincts can be harmful to other dogs, humans and the environment itself.
I can not change the world, I can not save all the dogs and kids of the world. But I must do something even if it seem insignificant. Here in the states we have Thousands of rescues and shelters to help dogs in need. Yes we have many unwanted dogs and they are being put down in unbelievable numbers. This is a global problem and everyone one needs to help if it will ever be controlled. I will not see it in my life time but I can only pray for my grandchildren's life time. If we don't do nothing, then nothing changes. If we try and teach our children to try then we can make a dent in the problem. We are not all the same and we all can not do the same things. I am glad we all have differences, because the differences put together makes the world go around and life easier. Naked K9 & small dog rescue is a 501c3 organization working to help one dog a month from Peru. It seems like a drop of water in an ocean of desperation but it is a start. I hope to reach the people who can help us get that one dog a month here to the states, we will get it vetted and rehome. There are many people here that love the hairless breeds and prefer them to dogs with fur. So finding them homes will not be a problem. There are folks in Peru that want to help and folks here that want to help but we have no way to get them here. We are hoping to get some space comped in cargo on a plane or get a plane ticket comped and we will pay to bring the dogs back. If we can get folks to donate there frequent flier miles we can collect them to get a plane seat and bring back two dogs at one time as checked luggage. A private company that flies back and forth that would bring back a dog for us. A traveler that would bring back a dog as there checked luggage. We will pay the checked luggage/pet fees but to bring them back as cargo is 800 dollars. Once in the states we can move the dog easily to foster homes through out USA and Canada. We have many cities in the Mid West and East coast that can pick dogs up at airports. We only ask to help move the dogs to the states. If you or someone you know can help I ask that you might think about helping Naked K9 help these magnificent animals. Please share this blog with everyone

You're so HOT! Bay.

English get slaughtered at our house. I can't spell and my grammar sucks, I mostly don't care, I get my point across. The girls on the other hand kill the language, they never pronounce the whole word or they plain say the word wrong, which often will cause great confusion. I have gotten used to ignoring them it make my life easier to not know what they are saying all the time. They use street slang like they know what they are doing but in fact they often use it wrong so it makes it real hard to be cool when you don't understand what your doing. And the best is when one is correcting the others English, it makes for some good laughs.
A few weeks ago I am walking through the house and I hear some one yell, BAY! I have no idea what they are doing so I ignore them. A couple days later I hear the same yell, BAY! I raise an eye brow and go on about my business. Again some time later I hear BAY, YOU'RE SO HOT. Now they have my attention. I go in the living room and here is one of the girls holding Gideon and calling him BAY. What the hell are you calling him? "Bay", she says,Why do you call him Bay? It means a large body of water, what does that have to do with him. Then she looks at me and tries again BAY.  You know Ma like baby, GAWD are you kidding, you mean Babe. You forgot the second "B". Ya Ma that's what I mean Bay, What ever???
Bay you are so HOT, Wow you looking for a date with the dog. No Ma he is hot when I hold him, then she ruffles his head hair and tells him how hot he is again. What ever, I walked back to my room where all my clutter makes sense to me.

Moezilla

Dogs come and go through the Damn Dog house as rescues come in and then they go to their forever homes. Now we often get dog characters that create sudden and often huge changes in the Damn Dog pack.  My pack has been solid and have adjusted to these changes well. They have taken the new dogs and shown them the ropes, teaching them how to be dogs and all that that entails. Each dog comes and leaves some part of themselves behind. Over the years my pack has aged two have passed over the rainbow and the young ones are not young any longer. I was left with 3 aging dogs and one adult. This was a short lived number as I had one foot in the world of rescuing two PIO's when the second dog passed. My dream of meeting a PIO and my wildest dream was to have one, was soon to become a reality.  We have had fosters in the past that my kids have fallen in love with, but was never allowed to keep and this has been a bone of contention in the family. So when I told the girls I was keeping one of the Peruvians they were all over me. You never let us keep any of the dogs we love, bla, bla, bla. To keep peace I said "Alright what dog do you want to keep"? Hoping that this would put an end to the whining. In unison came the name, GIDEON! Now Gideon is a puppy that came to us a few months ago and was 8 weeks old when dumped in a shelter. His owner had an oppps litter of Cocker Spaniel and Chinese Cresteds. Now as a puppy he was cute and small and everyone loves a puppy. I yelled Okay now no more dogs. We are back to 6 and that is enough, NO more dogs. This is starting to haunt me as I type. Gideon and Sipan the PIO are both young and play non stop. I can't get them to go to sleep at night, they just roll over and start in. Gideon has taken a growth spurt  and now is bigger than our little CC dogs but still not as big as Sipan. Together they are 65 plus lbs of hot, pounding, rolling flesh that when they jump, they jump in unison making impact a totally breath taking experience. There is no description I can come up with to make the experience understandable. Let say when you see the mass coming at you as your laying on your back watching TV, there is no moving in time to avoid impact. The sound of said impact is worse than the coughing, wheezing and cussing that comes immediately after impact. Now when this impact is with one of the older dogs there is always a huge fuss between the dogs that results in me wanting to run out the door and jump in the car and leave. The noise between the dogs is deafening. My older Alpha dog want to hump them both to show he is still in charge and they just roll over him and he screams like a lady with a soprano voice,  The two PIO's hate each other and must be kept separate at all time as just a glancing look between them set them into a fight.  I swear I want to put dark glasses on them so they can't see each other looking at each other. Dog gates are not an effective means of keeping Gideon corralled. He just leaps over and does his thing what ever in the hell he wants. Puppy hood may get him killed before he has a chance to grow out of it.  He see food and there is no stopping him. I told the girls he is yours you take care of him. That's not working either. He makes the hooligan look like angels. There is nothing he can not get into or out off. I put him in kennels and when I get home he is out. I leave him out side to take care of his business and 5 seconds later he has opened the door and let himself in.  Now we just brought in a new older foster dog named Moe.
Moe we have determined to have some pain issues and is now receiving meds for his discomfort.  Unfortunately his moods have not improved as much as his mobility. He is now called Moezilla. He is so grouchy he makes me and Archie Bunker look sweet as sugar. Now he has no teeth to back up his bark, but hell is bark is GAWD awful as he is growling he suck air in. making him sound like a monster from an old B horror movie. He does not want me to pet him but will not be in a room with out me. He sleeps with me but I must keep all the other dogs away from him. He growls at me till I get him picked up then he stops. He has a cry that will wake the dead when he is left out of where ever I am. But he still does not want hugs and kisses from me. What the Hell Moezilla, He has bit me but with out teeth this is of no consequences. I don't know if I am causing him discomfort or he is just in a very bad mood. He wants to get up between the girls and the back of couch and snuggle in. But if the girls move he growls at them. They freeze and put there hands in the air as if it was a stick up. The dog is like no other I have met. He is not viscous he is just pissed off all the time. Actually Godzilla is very quiet next to Moezilla. He comes over to ask to jump in my lap while I am at the computer. I put him in my lap and he growls at every dog that moves in the room. If I try to pet him he growls at me. This poor dog is a crotchety old boy, I can't imagine what his life must have been like if he has always been this way. I only know I am the third person to have him in the past 3.5 months. If he is on the couch and I sit down he acts like he want to eat me, then he comes over and curls up next to me and goes to sleep.   He is so cute and so grouchy I have no idea if he will end up here for the rest of his life. I so hope I can find a home that does not care if he is grouchy. He begs for food then he growls at you. Seriously Moezilla you are sending some mix ass signals.  Maybe he just needs doggy consoling for his piss off behavior.
